Delicious Salmon Piccata

Today, I'm excited to share a recipe that I absolutely love and, in my imagination, transports me to the Mediterranean coast, specifically Greece (which I haven’t visited yet, so feel free to invite me!). This dish is full of flavor and incredibly healthy: Salmon Piccata. I love this dish because it’s perfect for a casual dinner and doesn’t take much time to prepare. If you're looking for a light and delicious option, this recipe is perfect for your family and friends.

Delicious Salmon Piccata

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 150-200 g each)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1/2 cup white wine

  • Juice of one lemon and a slice per serving

  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained

  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped

  • 20 grams of butter

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions:

Prepare the Salmon:

  • Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper to taste.

  • This recipe usually calls for flour to coat the salmon, but I don't use it for a lighter and healthier dish.

Cook the Salmon:

  • Heat a pan and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once hot, add the salmon fillets with the skin side up. Cook for about 4 minutes, then flip the skin side down, cook for another 4 minutes, and remove from the pan.

Prepare the Piccata Sauce:

  • In the same pan, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the chopped garlic. Add the lemon slices and continue cooking over medium to low heat.

  • Pour in the white wine (deglaze the pan) and scrape up the browned bits from the bottom of the pan with a spatula. Cook over medium heat until the liquid is reduced by half, about 3 minutes.

  • Add the lemon juice and capers, cooking for another minute.

  • Reduce the heat and add the butter in cubes, stirring until it melts and blends with the reduction, making the sauce smooth and glossy. (Adjust seasoning if necessary.)

Assemble the Dish:

  • Return the salmon fillets to the pan with the sauce, making sure they are well coated. Cook for about 1 more minute, being careful not to overcook the salmon, just enough to let it absorb the flavors of the sauce.

  • Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the salmon before serving.

Serve:

  • Serve the salmon piccata with lemon and capers alongside your favorite side dishes. You can garnish with lemon slices if desired.

There you go! A flavorful Salmon Piccata dish. The combination of lemon and capers enhances the salmon's flavor in a delicious and light way. I hope you enjoy preparing and tasting this dish as much as I do!

Extra Tip:

Pair this salmon with some fragrant jasmine rice and seasonal vegetables to keep the dish light and flavorful. Of course, a nice glass of your favorite white wine is a must.

Buen Provecho!
